Artwork description:

This is an original handmade drypoint print. A drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique in which the image is incised with a sharp pointed etching needle into a working matrix, often a plate, but in this instance I have used card. Drypoint is often thought of as etching without the acid bath!

This work is totally abstract and I have created black and white shapes by removing the top layer of the card and leaving the surface below to absorb ink and then totally cutting other areas away so no ink is picked up. The shapes have a nice embossed feel to them. They appear to be floating in space and fine crosshatching and line work help to add a sense of energy. The title of the work is from a Jimi Hendrix lyric "floatation is groovy, and easy, even a jellyfish will agree to that. Yeah, but 'ol jellyfish been floating so long and so slack, Lord, ain't gotta bone in it's jelly back." - From the song 'Power of Soul'.

The work is printed on lightweight printmaking paper. It is a very rare artist's proof. (An artist's proof can be defined both as a print taken during progress of the work for the artist's benefit and it can often be a small edition of the work the artist has kept aside as his/her best versions of the print).

Your print will come wrapped in protective tissue paper to reach you in the best condition.

If you have any questions relating to the work before purchase please don't hesitate to ask me.
