"FLAME OF THE FOREST"
6 x 6.5 inches original dry point etching on archival Arches paper
Very limited edition of 5 prints
Hand-drawn, hand-pulled
....................................

THE STORY

Characteristic to spring in Bengal, the 'Palash' or the Flame of the Forest flower does just what its name suggests -- it lights up the entire landscape with its striking orange-red flame-like colour -- and not surprisingly, it finds mention in multiple compositions written by Tagore. Its colour, form and presence are addictive, and here I have incorporated a beautiful phrase in Bengali expressing just that from one of Tagore's songs!

THE PROCESS

This is dry point etching from a zinc plate, and the orange has been added by hand-colouring.

Materials used:

Etching ink
