Several years ago I was privileged to visit the incredibly beautiful country of Norway. As a life-long horse lover, I was thrilled to see the iconic Fjord horses in their country of origin. These compact, sturdy, versatile horses have been used in battle, for pulling and plowing, pleasure riding, and more recently, endurance riding and even dressage. This painting is a composite of several horses I photographed in Norway, placed in a typical Norwegian landscape with towering, snow covered mountains and steep terrain.
