Original artwork description:

This collage is made on a fabulous fabric which has a really warm linen look to it - very Scandinavian but it is actually an old French linen sheet!
The Fishermen's cottages have been created using all sorts of different fabrics and so has the different roofs - the Fish and Chip shop has a thatched roof - I used hessian and it looks really good! I have embroidered all the different details such as windows and doors. I used ink for some of the really tiny details. The harbour wall is bits of ripped thick cotton that has been stitched on to create a stone wall effect. The sea is literally hundreds of little bits of different blue cotton fabrics and it is really effective. Each bit has been carefully glued on. I did not want to stitch them as I wanted them sticking out a little bit so the water gets a bit more depth to it. Again, the boats are different cotton fabrics which has been stitched on and I have embroidered the mast and details. The sky is embroidery and some white and blue cotton clouds that I stitched on too.
The collage is backed with white linen and it has a channel at the top so it is ready to hang off a pole or wooden dowel or similar. Alternatively, the collage can be framed.
This is a LARGE collage - I have taken photos of it hanging over the double bed in one of our B&B rooms so that you can get an idea of the size.
I have embroidered my signature and the title of the collage on the front.

Materials used:

heavy cotton, mixed textiles, embroidery, imagination!
