This artwork «Fisherman» was painted during summery plein air in the village of Korop in Chernihiv Oblast (province) of northern Ukraine. We were invited by the district council for plein air, a number of master classes and exhibitions on the result of plein air. I painted characteristic views of the surroundings and scenes from the local life. Here is one of these etudes, made on a dense cardboard. This is the moment of observation of the fisherman. He made a place for fishing from a fallen tree. And every morning he came to fish and feed mosquitoes.
