Original artwork description:

The delicious, heady pleasure of a fish and chip shop on a cold afternoon. The tang of brine and the sharpness of vinegar, the age-old smell of batter and oil, warm paper and vats of chips. What does one choose, where do we start? There are meat pies with thick, almost chewy pastry, sausages of meat and suet. Sweet, nutty haggis, or greasy chicken. Glass bottles of fizzy pop, jars of boiled eggs and a huge stack of fresh, doughy rolls, sliced and buttered. This particular shop in Edinburgh caught my eye, with its vivid yellow paint work and its retro patterned tiling. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without the need for framing if wished. Texture has been added to give extra depth. The painting is an ideal souvenir of Scotland and makes a wonderful gift.

Materials used:

acrylic and card
