Original artwork description:

One evening when driving in the Toulourenc valley on the northern side of Mont Ventoux, the iconic mountain in Provence, I had to stop. I was struck by the clouds' ethereal quality that accentuated the light on the snow-capped summit and somehow made the mountain more solid.

I recalled this strong impression in this painting.

In the valley, the russet coloured vineyards catch the evening light as it rakes across the land from right to left while the blue rising mist contrasts with the permanence of the mountain.

The relationship between this landmark’s solidity and the nebulous, slowly shifting forms puts the magical world around us and our presence in it in some perspective.

This painting is a 14.25″ x 16″ oil and wax on panel that requires framing.

All paintings are varnished to add a protective coat against dust.

Only the highest quality archival fine art grade oil paints are used on a surface gessoed and prepared by myself.

All work is carefully packed using protective compressed foam boards 2 cm deep and then wrapped in cardboard so that your painting arrives safely.

I exhibit internationally and my art is featured in collections worldwide.

Materials used:

Oil and wax
