This was painted from a beautiful reference photograph by the wonderful Karen Broemmesick

I love the movement in this horse's mane and the determined look on his face. I made the background bold as he has such strength character and I felt he needed and deserved an impressive setting. It looks as though he is galloping into the evening mist.

I loved adding the variety of colours into his mane and the looseness in the style of this painting.

This has an acrylic base with oils on the surface to give it a more ethereal quality
