2022, "Fili" - stone wall sculpture, ready to hang

This original melted volcanic rock wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, expressionism and fantasy. The artwork represents one of the dwarf characters from J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. Fíli and Kíli were brothers, the youngest of the thirteen dwarves who set out with Thorin Oakenshield's company, along with Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins, to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.

The artist's concept is to melt the artwork's stones at high degree temperatures, reaching the point where they melt, going back to their origin magma state and then slowly cooled down. This way the artist restarts the formation of the stone material and brings it naturally back to a new organic shape and name it after one of Tolkien's fantasy characters. The wall sculpture is one extraordinary melted red tuff masterpiece and exquisite modern home wall décor.
