Field of sunflowers

16"x12" canvas
The surface was initially prepared lightly with texture paste. Once this layer dried, the painting started with covering the entire canvas with colour and some palette knife applications to define the clouds. The subsequent stage involved defining the flower shapes in a restrained manner. Some tonal adjustments were made to give the flowers a bit more lift and the edges of the canvas were painted to give the appearance of the painting continuing.
