Painted en plein air (on location). I enjoy setting up my easel in the open fields, especially if they are full of the bright purple lupine flowers. They create a natural pathway leading your eye to the far-away eucalyptus trees and mountains in the distance. Quickly catching the fleeting light calls for bold juicy brush strokes.
