Artwork description:

The beauty of printmaking is often when it is used simply; inks to build colour and the lino blocks to build patterns and shapes. Just two ingredients but which give endless possibilities.
These limited edition abstract images have been layered with transparent inks one block on top of another, allowing the colours to build into fluid patterns and then I’ve carefully chosen symbols which simply signify what it means to me to be a woman.
These forms are my interpretation of hieroglyphs, motifs that are mostly recognisable but put together form a language inside the picture, although the meaning will be read by each person in their own individual way!
I will be growing this series, of which there are four so far.
I have used beautiful thick Somerset satin cotton paper which also moulds itself into each individual block giving the surface a beautiful embossed look.
Please be aware that as these are hand printed you may find ink marks or faint creases, these can be easily hidden by good framing.

Materials used:

Oil based inks and Somerset Satin 250gsm
