The human figure is my primary inspiration in drawing and painting, to explore the possibilities of line, shape, colour and form.
From originally attending life drawing classes as an aid to my studies in art, the human figure has since become my abiding passion to explore my creativity in a multitude of media - drawing, painting, collage and even embroidery.
This piece is informed by a fascination with the works of expressionist artists such as Egon Schiele and Modigliani, whilst remaining a modern and contemporary interpretation. The bold and confident pose of the female model deserved to be reflected with a strong line and bright, assertive colours.
The drawing has also been treated with a pastel fixative for its protection and durability.
Acrylic, pastel, watercolour pencils.
