The painting is a part of the series «Etude". After visiting Fedoskino, he did some short plan air sketches, because the frost was very frosty. Once, got up in the morning, he went down to the river. Everything was covered with hoarfrost; the branches of the trees seemed translucent. It captures a cozy hut on the mountain among fir trees and the rising and changing pink orange sky. He had to paint very quickly. The very state of nature, its color and mood changed very fast, which made it possible to feel the beauty of the moment particularly sharply.
