The form is all about that special relation between father and son. The strength, the instinct to protect the child, carry it through life's rough waters until he grows up to take care of himself.
It's been fascinating and challenging to express so much through form and the piece took a long time to mature. Definitely a relevant source of inspiration were some of the parent/child pieces by the legendary Henry Moore as well as XX century Mexican school of sculpture with its volumes and sense of presence.
The sculpture is in single piece of fine limewood - treated with a couple layers of water-based varnish for surface announcement and protection from humidity fluctuation.
Signature incised at the bottom of the piece.
single piece of fine limewood, secured with water-based translucent varnish
