This lovely painting of a classic Dutch influenced farm house in De Hoop, Western Cape, South Africa. I loved the white against the deep blue sky. The warm-cool colours created in the white of the building against the dark thatch. The buildings are simple and rustic but I am sure cool in the heat. With animals around in this reserve like Bontebok, Guinea Fowl and Reebok it was a very scenic art experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved mixing the cool shaows on my pallette. This definitely is an impressionistic painting. I really like painting plein-air as I find painting from photographs takes away the freshness of the finished painting and you lose the variety of colours too as the camera gives you what the camera sees not what you see. You see this painting cropped slightly as you would see it once framed.
