This is a nearby farm that we walk past every morning. I watch the sun swing around it through the year, and the changing nature of the meadow on the hillside adjacent to it. And I wonder, what life must have been like on a farm at the turn of the century in Maine? I can romanticize about the lovely simple forms and the shadows swooping across the faces - but I know that this house was built through a lot of manual labor and that farm life must have been a hard one indeed.
