Original artwork description:

When mashing images together, I enjoy juxtaposing hard against soft. This grouping of work centers around 1960s MOD fashion, and the ongoing Cold War the US had sustained with the Soviet Union.

Fashion and espionage have their similarities, at least from my creative perspective. Both want you to see something that they have fabricated, without the full picture of what is underneath or its true intentions. Both provide a false narrative of what you should consider truth...this will make you happier, this is not a threat, this is going to change your life, this will bring peace...etc.

This particular work started with the image of a 1960s model in an audacious winder coat that reminded me of a mushroom cloud...an easy jump to the frosted image on the glass which reads in bold letters "FALLOUT" broken in the middle by an image of a nuclear warhead.

All this with the glitter shining through the non-frosted areas of the glass. This creates the obscured view we have of both ventures.

Materials used:

Glitter, spray paint on glass
