Every week we would leave the Chamonix valley and I would look up at the mountains either side of me. Sometimes the cloud would be so low and grey that the snow on the mountains and the cloud would bleed together to look like one flat surface. The colour seemed to have been sucked out of everything and just left this bleak landscape where you couldn't tell the sky and the land apart.
