I've been working on the theme of mental health for a long time now. I consider this topic to be relevant, and it seems to me that valuing and addressing mental health has only recently gained importance. However, it's important to clarify that living in a peaceful environment with a stable economy in the country is one thing, while living in conditions of war is another. It's hard to perceive others as if everything is normal. But it's not the case; people change when they find themselves in such circumstances, life becomes unique and very precious, which is very difficult to understand when everything around is in order. Changing one's priorities, values, and even one's face—this is what happens when death seems so close.
In this painting, I depicted a person who is making a choice or is in search of something. I believe this is very relevant for people who live in constant fear of death from rockets. This is an archival painting through which I wanted to capture the state of a person and their confusion in making choices. In the painting, we see faces, like masks, lying next to the person. It seems like the person needs to make a choice. And what will they choose? Will they find a suitable face for themselves?
