This work is a reflection on how memory and time are imprinted in objects and places, which can hold faces and moments long gone. I chose a surface such as wood, which carries with it a sense of durability and traces of time; its veins, cracks and marks evoke history, wear and tear and permanence, becoming a support in dialogue with the portrait, as if the figure were imbued in the material itself. It is the idea that people and emotions settle on objects and spaces, leaving traces, visible or invisible, that tell stories.
