This painting captures the tender stage of a young girl on the verge of womanhood, her innocence, wonder and expectations as she awaits, and looks towards, the future.
This painting is inspired by my daughter growing up and part of a series I work on.
The particular posture I chose to paint struck me as being special in some way, exposing a vulnerability and elegance which touched me.
The mosaic pattern (with partly metallic paint) I painted continues around the edges of the painting and emphasizes the idea of looking in to a scene unnoticed.
