Exodus reminded me of pictures I'd seen as a child of Thais having to move after wars with Burma, and there would be a mass exodus of people fleeing war carrying whatever processions they could carry and elephants carrying the rich people who never walk anywhere, their servants walking alongside carrying their own and their employers processions. Bamboo baskets were used for everything, including fishing, leaving behind that they couldn't take with them.
This is actually the second version of Exodus and while I was working on it and the painting started coming to life I thought these people could be just as well be fleeing from their land that has been decimated by deforestation and unnatural fires destroying everything in its path, forcing them to flee and look for greener pastures but where?
