Original artwork description:

EVOLUTION OF STRIPES: Shows the evolution of stripes from the bar code stripes (indicating materialism), stripes of a fingerprint (human) and the stripes of a zebra (nature). Demonstrates the conflict between commercialism and nature. Also symbolizes the importance of challenging fixed absolute rules

Original, signed acrylic painting mounted on wrapped canvas

30 x 40"

X-RAYS OF THE SOUL: A collection of powerful black and white abstract expressionistic paintings inspired by the importance of species conservation and my love for science, these paintings symbolize the intimate relationship we have with the natural world by using anatomical images that demonstrate our connection with nature. My studies in veterinary medicine and love for science and the natural world inspired the creation of narrative showing the inescapable connection between humankind and the natural world. Powerful, black and white images seem like “x-rays of the soul” showing magnified and distorted images of internal human anatomy that mirror the external natural world.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint and canvas
