This painting popped onto my canvas immediately after I returned from a trip to Paris. No surprise, the red-and-white French-style picnic tablecloth forms a backdrop for bold happy flowers, all in Marseillais tones. The French are wonderful picnickers. They know how to set a quality table anywhere and relax well and long enough to fully enjoy it. This painting takes me back to a particular Sunday afternoon on green grass under tall trees at Versailles with some of my favorite people.
