Original artwork description:

An accurate and detailed depiction of the quayside in Exeter c.1900. The two warehouses on the right still stand today and are easily recognised. Although the purpose of the area has changed significantly in recent decades the quayside is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike now.

For those who remember the 1970´s TV series The Onedin Line this area was used extensively in the filming. A canal connects the port of Exeter to the tidal Exe estuary and the sea enabling ships of some size to reach the city. Exeter as a trading port can be traced back to Roman times but the arrival of the railway signalled a downturn in use.

An artist signed giclée limited edition print has been published from this original painting. The total edition size is 195 and within that edition there are both canvas and paper versions available. The canvas option, which is the same size as the original painting will be shipped rolled ready for stretching and framing. The paper version, smaller size has an image size 375 x 625mm with generous borders and signed and numbered in pencil within the border and should be framed behind glass. Both canvas and paper versions come with an artist signed certificate of authenticity.

Materials used:

professional quality oil paint on linen canvas over a sturdy stretcher
