This screenprint of a Co Mayo landscape was printed in May 08 and consists of 9 layers, and is printed in a Limited Edition of 40 prints.
The print depicts the very picturesque "Atlantic Drive" on the South coast of Achill Island late on a summer evening. The shafts of sunlight accentuate Achill Head and Croaghaun.
"Evening Light on Atlantic Drive, Achill" was inspired by my many visits to the West of Ireland island of Achill, which has been a source of inspiration for many artists over the years, including the famous landscape artist Paul Henry.
Each time that I visit this magic place, I schedule a walk along the southern coast of the island, which is part of the wider "Atlantic Drive". Late evening, when the weather permits, allows spectacular views towards the western end of the island, with the shafts of evening sunlight playing with the landscape and seascape. I love this print because it brings me right back to the source.
