I am very fond of this view of the beach when I was visiting Devon. We went walking here one evening, it had been raining heavily and the clouds were just clearing. The winds were bracing and the skies turbulent, I always feel inspired by the coast, the blues of the ocean, white surf and windswept sky. There were two people standing close to the shore line looking out to sea and in the evening light they were silhouetted against the back drop of the ocean and the sun low in the sky.

Painted in mixed media on deep edged canvas "Evening Light" is an original work of art and one of a kind. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. I painted some base layers with a brush and used some impasto techniques in layers applied with a palette knife for the foreground, then used brushes to apply glazes and scumble creating a contemporary painting. The painting continues round the sides.a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
