Original artwork description:

The Golden Hour is beloved of artists, photographers and poets. It's that time of evening when the light dims down as if a thin diaphanous veil softens the landscape's strong colours and defined contours.

Experiencing a feeling of timelessness standing there, in this wide open space with a big sky.

In this painting, it's autumn time in the west of Ireland.

Gold, browns and rust colours transform the landscape.

The bog grasses catch the light as the rays of the setting sun rake across the land. The spectacle is all the more beautiful as the sun sinks to the horizon and the colours become deeper and richer.

The bog appears to have an internal light, glowing a deep burnt orange. The passing clouds caress the land with deep violet shadows that complement the orange light on the grasses.

Light and dark play upon the land.

Wide and open, the vista stretches off to the distant coast.

This is an oil on panel (that requires framing).

All paintings are varnished to add a protective coat against dust.

Only the highest quality archival fine art grade oil paints are used on a surface gessoed and prepared by myself.

All work is carefully packed using protective compressed foam boards 2 cm deep so that your painting arrives safely.
