Some of the old towns around Shanghai still have canals running through the town which gained them the name “the eastern Venice”. Boating in these old towns is the most favoured way of enjoying the area. The covered boat take travellers along the canals, watching others having tea in the beautiful old houses lining along the canals. The boats sail under the lovely old bridges, many survived hundreds of years and are still in use. I love taking the tour in the evening when all the lights lit up the old buildings and bridges and their reflections, feel like stepping back in time.
