This quiet place, out with my husband and dogs, calls to mind not all memory-making needs to be far from home. I'm fortunate to traverse these woods often, and usually all year 'round. It's been a faithful friend throughout the seasons. Blankets of snow and tiny frozen ponds yield to budding trees full of songbirds in spring. Summer days are raucous with swimmers and sun lovers staking out their space on the sandy shore, not far from the setting where Evening is observed. Autumn returns peace and stillness to this habitat. And that's my most beloved time to meander through the hidden gems in this woodland. Evening is best of all. Evening brings shy deer to the water's edge. Evening translates as peace for this locale. Evening calls for sun-gazing as my dogs frolic in tall grass ahead of me, oblivious to all I observe but with keen scented observations unknown to me.
