I've been returning to the landscapes of salt marshes on the coast of Essex and Kent for a couple of years now as I'm drawn to the juxtaposition of the industrial buildings that are often scattered across the horizon and the very special light & unique scenery of these fairly undiscovered areas.
This impressionistic painting in blues and turquoises is a slightly different colour scheme from many of my paintings. It was inspired by the buildings including a disused power station across the estuary seen on a sunny summer day.
It was painted in oils, acrylics and gesso using a palette knife and by scraping and sanding away at the many layers to reveal the textures below the glazes.
This canvas is professionally framed in a white wood grain frame and is ready to hang.
