One of a series inspired by African cultures, particular the sculptures and masks of West and Central Africa. These pictures are my homage to a great artistic tradition. I have had a love for it since I was a boy and my father had an African mask on his study wall and it's a tradition that has informed my work increasingly over the years. Eshu features in the mythology of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and is a trickster god amongst other things. I'm interested in melding cultures and also the traditional with the modern, which is why many of these characters are in suits and ties.
