Original artwork description:

The two-faced Herm symbolically indicates the two sides of the same coin, indivisible like the two personalities, male and female, fused within an individual.
In ancient times this figure is the god of entrances, Ianus or Janus, of "beginnings" that are not only spatial or temporal but also inherent to existential meanings, being a passage from one condition to another. Janus presides over all passages and thresholds, material and immaterial, such as the thresholds of houses, doors, covered passages and those surmounted by an arch, but also the beginning of a new enterprise, of human life, of economic life, of historical and mythical time, of religion, of the gods themselves, of the world, of humanity and of civilization.
The embroidered fabric enhances the geometries of the colored ovals that intertwine creating a cavity, symbolism within the symbol.
The work is composed of two overlapping paintings. In Milena's painting there is always the use of powdered pigment that creates rough and material surfaces, she loves corrosion, engraving and digging, she uses excellent protective and consolidating products that guarantee resistance to time and external agents. They do not fear alterations caused by dust or sunlight or humidity. The artist has found unique formulas and techniques that she jealously guards.
