I've been lucky enough to spend much of this summer in France, at a charming farmhouse full of inspiring things. The equivalent of a sweetie shop to a still-life artist! Although the garden was full of lavender, I took a bunch from my own garden to leave in the house - a kind of lavender exchange. Seen here, with some treasured vintage books to complete this composition. Set against old painted cupboards and floorboards, the piece has an evocative, yet fresh appeal. The use of a palette knife to introduce a small degree of texture adds both depth and interest.

This painting is sold unframed but is suitable to do so should you wish. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.

The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.
