Original artwork description:

With their picturesque style, English cottage house plans, also known as storybook cottage house plans, became popular across America between 1890 and 1940. Charming and romantic, storybook house plans are usually asymmetrical one or one-and-a-half story homes, with steep roof lines and intersecting gables. Casement windows with small panes charmingly frame outdoor scenes and gardens. Thus, I painted this fairy tale home from the English countryside as a monochromatic and black and white ink drawing.

English Cottage Style — 1920 to 1940
Characteristics commonly incorporated included the steeply pitched roof and cross-gables, large stone or brick chimneys often at the front of the house, and small-paned bands of casement windows.

I use Winsor Newton’s Indian Black Ink and Uni Pin Water Proof Technical Drawing Pen on Magnani 1404 Italia 100% cotton 30x30cm / 12x12 inches paper.

**Tip: Artwork fits into following IKEA’s frames: RIBBA (Frame, high gloss, gray; Frame, black) and VIRSERUM (Frame, dark brown; Frame, white).

Materials used:

Magnani 1404 Italia 12x12 Inches Paper, Winsor Newton Indian Black Ink, Winsor Newton Ivory Black Watercolor
