What could be lovelier than afternoon tea in an English tea garden, with roses blooming and the gentle heat of summer radiating from the orange brick walls? A freshly brewed pot of tea, bone china cups, delicate like the petals of roses, and a delicious scone, buttery, warm and served with clotted cream. A bee hums, spoons clink porcelaine and already the day seems to grow languide. It is solid and comforting, timeless and graceful, especially when such pleasures are coupled with friendship, the nectar of plum jam and darjeeling to the account of harmless gossip. This work is rich in shadow and light, rich in realism and reflecting a lovely view of an idealised England.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
