Standing like bleak sentinels on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, these structures once housed steam engines that ran to the coal pits out on the moor.

This image was captured on a biting cold winter day. It had a stark beauty that captured my imagination as I walked over the frozen ground towards it; something defiant, ageless and surreal.
