This painting is part of an ongoing series that I began working on in early 2017 where I turn vintage mugshots into contemporary portraits. I find the photos that I reference to be a unique snapshot in time focusing on someone who is at a dramatic point in their personal life. I don't know the outcome of these people's lives nor would I share it if I did. I believe the mystery is intriguing.

I created this painting using a variety of materials, including acrylic & oil pastel. The painting is textured with layers of paint and is finished with a gloss varnish to reveal the richness of the colors as well as to help protect it from sunlight and moisture.
