Work about reconnection to the wilderness and nature inside.
What you can see in the final print is a result of several weeks of work and attention to detail - paired with carving skill I acquired through years of woodcarving. All in order to get that special vibration right and do justice to the composition.
I am very proud of this particular piece - certainly among the best of my achievements in this field. In general there is something very definitive about a single plate linocut. No tricks one might say since there is no possibility of variating textures, contrast, or even shading; no space for corrections either as every line has to be precisely cut by chisel at first take.
It's a very stimulating compositional challenge to make the image complete with these premises and if succeeded the reward is always a very strong and compelling composition.
So yeah, this one is certainly a piece I am very happy to share!
After being carved onto a lino plate the image is hand printed with the use of bamboo barren on Japanese Hosho Kozo paper.
