Original artwork description:

First tender moments as the flower emerges from the bud....fragile, crumpled yet so incredibly structured and light-filled. So is the beginning of all life that emerges out of the vast mesh of impulses that go to make up the whole of the universe; a feeling of optimism and assertion that I wanted to convey using this bloom from my garden.

The somewhat abstract background was worked in layers that were sanded back and repainted many times so that they seem to fizz with a sort of potential of unformatted colour revealing itself through the neutrality whilst radiating out of the flower-form. A striking piece that I captured in a video that can be seen using the tags "emergence" and "painting" on YouTube.

This is a deep-sided canvas with painted sides, ready to hang.
