Artwork description:

I love to capture the ways our bodies respond to our emotions. When we are feeling fragile there is a weight that causes us to sink into the surface below us, as though we could slip right out of form. Meanwhile when we are empowered we stand firmly in our flesh and wear it proudly. 'Embody' reflects the feeling of the latter.

While making this print I was inspired by a recent trip to Cyprus where I spent time looking at Byzantine iconography. The nude is shown as a kind of saint, and the pattern I chose for the fabric recalls those represented in many of these works.


As all prints are hand pressed, each will have some minor differences, which I believe adds to the character of the print. I cannot guarantee that you will receive the edition featured in the photo.

Caligo Safe Wash inks, lino, Japanese Hosho paper
