Description: The Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway, where Elvis and Priscilla Presley honeymooned in 1967 is in the historic Vista Las Palmas neighborhood in beautiful Palm Springs, California. In 1962, Look magazine featured the 4600 sq. ft. home in an article titled “The Way-Out Way of Life” and dubbed it the House of Tomorrow. This iconic and dramatic residence was built in 1960 and designed by architect William Krisel for Helene and Robert Alexander of the Alexander Construction Company. Krisel designed a series of four interconnected circular pods which embodied his view that since, “circles have no edge, you can approach them from anywhere.”
As always, I took my time as I considered various compositions, angles, and techniques to capture its truest essence. Approaching the building from the entrance to the cul-de-sac, the residence looked like a spaceship from the Jetson’s era that was about to take flight. I opted for a long exposure to create a more dynamic vibe and captured the photo from a lower perspective adding to the feeling the house was literally about to take-off into outer space. Truly an incredible Southern California architectural masterpiece.
