Painted over a couple of sessions on location from the traffic island in Elm Road in Leigh on Sea. I'd spotted this view a few weeks before when I painted a similar view from a different position which I'd sold straight from the easel. Walking back to the car I noticed this view from further back with the contrasts between the strappy leaves of the phormiums in the foreground and the shapes of the buildings along Elm Road.
