Original artwork description:

Ellora caves in Aurangabad, India represent the epitome of India's rock-cut architecture. There are 34 caves which have essentially been excavated from the hills. They were built between 6th to 9th century AD. The first 12 caves are Buddhist temples, 13th to 29th caves are Hindu temples and 30th to 34th caves represent Jain temples.

Kailash temple in the 16th cave is a magnificent two-storeyed temple complex and incredibly, this beautiful structure was carved out of one single rock.

"The Kailasha is a great monolithic rock cut temple isolated from the surrounding rock and excavated from top to bottom and scooped out all through from outside to inside. It is said that ten generations worked for it and took more than 200 years for its completion", reads an inscription by Archaeological Survey of India at the entrance to the temple.

Ellora is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

This painting is my interpretation of a small section of Kailash temple, after a visit, that was more like a journey into ancient India.

The painting is signed on the front and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Please note that the colors of the original painting may slightly vary from what they appear here, although best efforts are made to capture the colors as close to the original, as possible.

The painting is on stretched canvas and will be securely packed in a cardboard box.

Import duty/taxes, as applicable, have to be borne by the buyer. They are not included in the price or shipping cost.

Materials used:

Winsor and Newton Artists' Oil Color, stretched canvas, brushes
