My 'Elemental' paintings explore the relationship between line, shape and colour. Influenced in part by the work of Mondrian, the series uses bold blocks of colour divided by broad black lines. Where they differ from Mondrian is in the use of greens, blues and reds of nature and using strong 30, 45 and 60 degree angles rather than pure horizontals and verticals. These works also draw on my past experience in engineering drawing, and the beauty of angles in engineered structures.
