Original artwork description:

I managed to get one spontaneous photo shoot last year in the most fantastic natural swimming pool. The tones in the water were absolutely beautiful and had a wonderful romantic feel to them. The pool is a truly glorious secret oasis based just off the High St in my tiny Kentish town. The light and the tones in the water were spectacular. I look forward to taking some more shots this year! My process starts with taking the photographs I work from, I like to experiment with angles and light in the photographing. Every inch of the canvas has multiple layers on to build up the feeling of light, water and body, every layer focusing in on more detail until there is a balance of tight detail and watery fluidity. Every summer I do a number of photo shoots and then spend the rest of the year exploring them from different angles. The tones in the photos from this shoot were really gorgeous and that has translated into the painting. It literally glows when it's on the wall!
