Original artwork description:

Oil painting in a white frame. Abstract theme. It's always difficult thinking up titles for abstract works and it just so happened I was reading Goethe's Elective Affinities at the time I painted this picture. The title struck me. Later I read that Magritte defined elective affinities as obscure associations he perceived between objects. the associations between shapes in my picture are certainly obscure!
