Original artwork description:

This is an Oil Painting inspired from looking at a rock I found and brought back from the agricultural town of Belalcazar in Spain. During my time at the La Fragua Artist Residency I spent a lot of time walking in the landscape, inspired by the beautiful views and the amazing Convent of Saint Clara.

During on of my walks I found this rock and brought it back to the studio. Upon my retunr to England I set about creating a series of drawings and small paintings, exploring the surface of the rock and its colours.

This painting is a result from many hours studying the rock and observing the shifting light during the day, capturing the shifting forms and colours. These paintings were developed during my time spent in Cyprus on a residency at the Cyprus College of Art in 2013.

The painting explores my journey and the journey of the Sun through form, shape and colour.
