I love the free will debate and also greatly admire Kierkegaard's work, 'Either/Or'. This piece symbolises that dialectic with the contrasting colours, laid over deep texture and pocks, which signify the building of wisdom over time. The painting has come through from layers of building up and peeling back and I think that unknowing and knowing back and forth is what leads to us feeling complete. I used plaster to create the surface I wanted and rich oils for the top layers. The foundation layers are in acrylics.
The deep box edge is black, so it can be hung unframed and the work is ready to hang. Please enquire about framing if you would like this as an addition.
